Keyhole surgery

The smallest opening that is safe.

Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery uses a camera and fine instruments through small cuts. Dr Muguti uses it wherever it is safe, and tells you beforehand if an open operation may be needed.

01Smaller cuts

Usually three or four cuts of 5 to 12 millimetres instead of one long one.

02Less pain

Smaller wounds mean less pain after the operation and fewer painkillers.

03Home sooner

Many keyhole operations are same-day or one night in hospital.

04Back to normal faster

Light work after one to two weeks for most operations.
